The bamboo stove gatherings were literary meetings dedicated to the tea stove of the monastery of mount Hui, in Wuxi. These gatherings, held in the course of the Ming and Qing dynasties, were commemorated in a conspicuous production of poems, essays and paintings, and are among the most celebrated events of the history of Wuxi. The present article analyses the first three of these gatherings, which were organised in the Ming period after the construction of this particular handiwork and on the occasion of its retrieval and reconstruction.
