Abstract

The article examines a textual manipulation carried out on the Servite Cosimo Fa villa's Flagellum Pseudoprophetarum. The work contains a ferocious attack against the Dominican preacher Girolamo Savonarola, but the friar's name was systematically expunged from the pages of the only known manuscript. As a result, Savonarola was not identified for several centuries and the attack against him was neutralized.
