Parole, chiavi di lettura. Venticinque anni di 'Memoria e Ricerca' attraverso i titoli

The article looks back on the historiographical features of «Memoria e Ricerca» during its first twenty-five years of existence. The analysis relies on the frequency of words contained in the titles of the published contributions. These words are bundled into 102 concepts the recurrence of which is observed over the time. What emerges is the profile of a journal of contemporary history, which by genesis and by vocation can be defined as a journal of history of the political that follows a comparative and transnational approach. Preferably it investigates social, cultural and symbolic languages, whose dynamics are often captured through the spatial dimension. Thanks to its broad understanding of the political realm, the journal includes areas of research that range from geography to the economy, from technology to art, and to media and communication. Through the lenses of the journal’s evolution, also some more general developments in Italian and international historiography can be observed.
