In this paper the theme of identity is discussed through the comparison of the perspectives delineated in La struttura originaria by Emanuele Severino and in Sistema di logica by Giovanni Gentile. The result is a common insistence on the immediately dianoetic nature of thought but, on the other hand, also a different conception of the relationship between thought and being, wich conditions the outcome of the two authors’ reflection on decisive themes such as ‘nothing’ and ‘becoming’.
