After a short history of the evolutionary interpretations of Aristotle’s treatises, the article describes the birth and development of the dialectical interpretations in the second part of 20th century. It then relates the criticisms advanced by many different scholars at the beginning of 21th century against this interpretative trend. In the final section an alternative approach is presented. According to that exegetical approach, Aristotle, even in Nicomachean Ethics, does not give up the search for definitions of the main moral concepts and phaenomena. He follows, in doing that, the recipe provided in the second book of the Posterior analytics. But in this treatise a lesser role is reserved to the so-called « dialectical » or « endoxical » method as well.

Abstract
After a short history of the evolutionary interpretations of Aristotle's treatises, the article describes the birth and development of the dialectical interpretations in the second part of 20th century. But in this treatise a lesser role is reserved to the so-called dialectical" or endoxical" method as well.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
