Abstract

Urban water distribution was, of course, one of the main issues in Roman water management, both for the technical aspects and for administrative ones. Water management, in fact, was mainly a prerogative of imperial institutions that were in charge of assuring water to public structures as well as to those private owners who paid in order to be granted a water concession. The paper aims to take into account the literary sources that deal with this topic and to compare them with some epigraphical attestations, such as those coming from Lucus Feroniae, where an important inscription concerning the public water network was found.
