The paper aims to analyze the convivial practices of different social groups during the Middle Ages, to understand their cultural identity and the semantic of their self-representation. The research area is the North Eastern Italy during the 14th century. Specific archaeological contexts will be taken into account. The objects on the tables will be assessed considering the relationship between containers devoted to solid or liquid food, objects intended for communal (large dishes, mugs) or individual use (small bowls or drinking glasses). Moreover, we intend to examine contemporary written sources, such as manuals of behavior, monastic rules, narrative episodes that reveal convivial habits and their meaning. The analysis of late medieval iconographic representations will be an additional element of comparison, reflecting on the level of standardization of the illustrated subject.

Verranno presi in considerazione specifici contesti archeologici.
