By using innovative information technological tools, this paper considers the relationship between Late Latin poetry and Republican authors of epic literature. The paper focuses on a selection of texts to demonstrate that Ennius’ Annales had been for some centuries not only a powerful engine of poetic inspiration but also a rich repository of patterns and frameworks (e.g. words, sounds, metric, rhythm) for both ecclesiastic and profane versifiers.
