The present article investigates Dionysius the Areopagite's attitude towards the idea of apokatastasis or universal restoration in the eschaton. Through a cross-referenced analysis of different passages in the Corpus dionysiacum, especially of Divine Names IV, 35, it argues that, contrary to what some critics have recently suggested, Dionysius implicitly but decidedly places himself against apokatastasis.
