The essay focuses on the altarpiece depicting "St. Matthias walking" by Leonardo Corona, painted for the scuola of the same name in the church of St. Bartholomew in Venice. Based on many unpublished documents that have also brought to light important new information on the history of the church's architecture, the article also establishes the chronology of the painting thanks to the discovery of two payment receipts. Finally, delving into the history of the scuola, the author proposes an interpretation of the painting's iconography, unequivocally linked to the history of the confraternity.
