During the last years European legislation has strongly focused on environmental matters. In particular, the latest European directives on public contract law have considerably increased environmental policy instruments - green public procurement – in order to favor the development of a market for products and services with a reduced environmental impact. The paper analyzes the influence of the European directives on the Italian new legislation on public procurement contracts and, in a broader prospective, the influence that the principle of sustainable development will have - in future - also on the private contact law.

Abstract

During the last years European legislation has strongly focused on environmental matters.
