Translations of the Bible into Serbian. The paper presents the outlines for the history of Bible translations into Serbian in the period from the National Revivcal to the present day.Bible translations appaer in the complex situation of the formation of new literary languages and the transition from the liturgical function of the Holy Writ to the functionning of the Bible as religious reading and a work of literature. The appearance of specific new translations is a significant event in the national cultures of the Balcan Slavs. The pubblishing activities of religious minorities for propaganda and for commercial purposes develops as a paarallel process.
