Conference presentation at the "XXVI Convegno nazionale dei dottorati di ricerca in Filosofia", Fondazione San Carlo, Modena (Italy), 5-6 September 2017
This paper focuses on the Neoplatonic philosopher Yehudah Abarbanel, best known as Leone Ebreo, and the recognition of astrology as one of the true sciences in his Dialoghi d’amore (1535), by considering the intellectual milieu in which Yehudah was embedded. Moreover, it aims to clarify how Yehudah legitimizes astrology as a valid form of the naturalistic knowledge of humankind and the universe by referring to Marsilio Ficino’s prisca theologia.

Abstract
This paper focuses on the Neoplatonic philosopher Yehudah Abarbanel, best known as Leone Ebreo, and the recognition of astrology as one of the true sciences in his Dialoghi d’amore (1535), by considering the intellectual milieu in which Yehudah was embedded. Moreover, it aims to clarify how Yehudah legitimizes astrology as a valid form of the naturalistic knowledge of humankind and the universe by referring to Marsilio Ficino’s prisca theologia.File in questo prodotto:
