The project SeResto, started on January 2014, is implemented in the northern Venice Lagoon with the aim of restoring and consolidating the coastal lagoon habitat No. 1150* via the transplantation of submerged aquatic angiosperms. During the first year small transplantations were carried out in 17 sites by local fishermen expressly trained for this activity. The survival of transplanted specimens resulted successful in 8 sites, in 3 sites only some plants were found and in the remaining sites the growth was lower than expected, but some sods bearing new shoots were still present. The main factor affecting angiosperm survival was the proliferation of Ulvaceae due to an excess of nutrient inputs in a particularly rainy year.

Abstract
The project SeResto, started on January 2014, is implemented in the northern Venice Lagoon with the aim of restoring and consolidating the coastal lagoon habitat No. 1150* via the transplantation of submerged aquatic angiosperms. During the first year small transplantations were carried out in 17 sites by local fishermen expressly trained for this activity. The survival of transplanted specimens resulted successful in 8 sites, in 3 sites only some plants were found and in the remaining sites the growth was lower than expected, but some sods bearing new shoots were still present. The main factor affecting angiosperm survival was the proliferation of Ulvaceae due to an excess of nutrient inputs in a particularly rainy year.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
