From the notion of latency, the "quality or condition of latent" (something that exists, but hidden) and also the "time that elapses between a stimulus and the response it produces" this article opens up a reflection on the limits of "autoficción" with readings from films and texts that play with an autobiographical appearance. It deals with what Philippe Gasparini has recently called the "tentation autofictionnelle", that is to say playing with the ambiguity that opens between autobiography and fiction to develop an alternative exploration of the self. Some contemporary authors have been able to make intense transdisciplinary, intertextual and intermediate explorations through the use of rhetorical tools provided by autofiction. A self-portrait by Pere Gimferrer (1998), Francofonia (2015) by Russian director Sokurov and a documentary by the Argentinean José Luis García, La chica del Sur (2012) are the main texts on which the article is based.
