Come in uno specchio. Qualche nota e alcune digressioni sull'interpretazione (tra Schleiermacher e Wittgenstein)

This essay addresses some dimensions of the relationship between understanding and interpretation, prompted by some of Schleiermacher's considerations on hermeneutics and some of Wittgenstein's notes on interpretation. In particular, it describes and questions two complementary outlooks: on one hand, yhe idea that, if one does not interpret something, it is because one is unable to (in the grammatical or logical sense of "being unable"); on the other, the idea that , if one does not construe something, it is because, to quote Schleiermacher, one is not demanding enough of his/her own understanding. On the backdrop of such criticism, the essay outlines a position that rules out the idea that everything is interpretation, without having to resort to a sort of metaphysical juxtaposition between view and interpretation.
