Amici miei, Tebani... Classici contro al Teatro Olimpico

The Classics Vs. project gathers Italian and foreign classicists, each of whom speaks to us about a topic, an idea, or a word from the ancient classics that might be of use to us against ethical, aesthetic, civic and cultural issues of our world today. The classicists thus turn into Demosthenes, Thucydides, Helenus, and Vertumnus. As occurred in Dionysus’ theatre, they speak before the citizens through myths and stories without any mythicization but with the brilliance of a theatrical performance and the lucidity and rigour of a philological study. The theatre remains the location and, after a series of historical theatres in Venice and the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions, the Classics Vs. now have a special place in Andrea Palladio’s Olympic Theatre.
