Cis-[PtCl2(PPh3)2] and [PtCl2(P-P)] [P-P = Ph2P(CH2)1, 2, or 4PPh2) are synthesized by treating H2[PtCl6]•H2O with an excess of phosphine in EtOH. By pressurizing H2[PtCl6]•6H2O and an excess of PPh3 with CO and H in EtOH, trans-[PtHCl(PPh3)2] is obtained; in the presence of propene, even without H, trans-[PtCl(COPr)(PPh3)2] forms.

Abstract
