Dithioformato [Fe(S2CH)L4]BPh4 1, N-ethyl- and N-p-tolyl-thioformamido [Fe(RN-..CH-..S)L4]BPh4(R = Et or p-MeC6H4) 2 and 3, and phenylformamido [Fe(PhN-..CH-..O)L4]BPh4 4 derivatives [L = P(OEt)3 or PPh(OEt)2] were prepared by treating the hydrides [FeH(H2)L4]+ with the appropriate heteroallenes CS2, RNCS and PhNCO. Substitution reactions with CO and isocyanides were studied and the synthesis of [Fe(RN-..CH-..S)(CO)L3]BPh4 5 and 6, [Fe(RN-..CH-..S)(p-MeC6H4NC)L3]BPh4 7 and 8. [Fe(PhN-..CH-..O)(CO){P(OEt)3}3]BPh4 9 and [Fe(p-MeC6H4NC)3L3][BPh 4]2 10 complexes achieved. Their characterization and stereochemistry were established using infrared. 1H, 31P and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
