The paper discusses one grammatical category that has not been discussed in contemporary Bulgarian linguistics - that of numeral classifiers. The paper discusses the elements that express classificatory meanings and their distribution is being compared with that of languages which are known to have developed classificatory systems. Different arguments are advanced to show that Bulgarian is a language with classifiers albeit not grammaticalized to the extent of other languages.
