La flexicurity: il dibattito comunitario e prospettive di diritto europeo

The present work aims to analyze the European dialogue regarding the concept of flexicurity. I will study the various steps that led to the birth of the term itself and to its diffusion and, especially, the political debate that the European Commission wanted to open with the drafting of the Green Paper entitled "Modernising Labour Law to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century ". I will, therefore, examine the virtuous systems of flexicurity, trying to answer the question whether such systems are easily exportable to the other nations or not and if there is a universal concept of flexicurity, regardless of the peculiarities of each national situation. Finally, I will analyze the relationship between Employment Protection Legislation, defined as the set of rules and procedures governing the termination of employment, and the various indicators of labor market. Then the attention will be focused on the concept of “contratto unico”.
