Abstract
A previously unknown document, which has been recently discovered in the National Archive of Florence, contains the census of Vincenzio Borghini’s library and heritage (manuscripts, printed editions, drawings). The document has encouraged new research on documents and materials belonged to the benedictine Prior. The first part of this project focuses on the philological and textual analysis of the inventory, with particular attention to the XVI century cultural and historical environment in which this collection was built. The information gathered on each item, once stored in a database (since this electronic tool offers the most flexible way to access and process accurately large amount of data), has proven very useful to search and and find manuscripts and editions from the Prior’s library, today scattered in several European and Western libraries, thus unknown by scholars and researchers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
