Il testo osserva la disciplina della protezione dei dati relativi alla salute nel diritto europeo ed eurounitario e in chiave comparatistica. Sono presi in esame, in particolare, gli ordinamenti tedesco, italiano e francese. Si compie infine un'ulteriore riflessione relativamente ai sistemi statunitense e cinese.
