This essay examines the significance of oral archives for historical research, outlining their main typologies, preservation challenges, and possibilities for reinterpretation. As rich and multidimensional sources, oral archives document social and cultural experiences often absent from written records. Drawing on recent projects and case studies, the article shows how integrated preservation, ethical access, and interdisciplinary reuse can revitalize past interviews and generate new historical insights. It ultimately argues that oral archives function as active spaces of knowledge, memory, and public engagement.
