Corpus linguistics and translation studies share an interest in the study of language use and the patterns through which language is realized in actual texts. The use of language corpora has increasingly acquired a pivotal role in translation research, practice, and pedagogy in the last 30 years, extending beyond written translation to multimodal texts and oral interpreting. Corpora allow scholars the opportunity to investigate and make generalizations about translation and language use based on the observation of cumulative patterns of occurrence rather than on the analysis of single texts. Both in professional and general practice, corpora have provided the basis for the automation of multilingual text production, including translation, with a significant impact also on the education of future translator.

Abstract
Corpus linguistics and translation studies share an interest in the study of language use and the patterns through which language is realized in actual texts. The use of language corpora has increasingly acquired a pivotal role in translation research, practice, and pedagogy in the last 30 years, extending beyond written translation to multimodal texts and oral interpreting. Corpora allow scholars the opportunity to investigate and make generalizations about translation and language use based on the observation of cumulative patterns of occurrence rather than on the analysis of single texts. Both in professional and general practice, corpora have provided the basis for the automation of multilingual text production, including translation, with a significant impact also on the education of future translator.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
