This volume reexamines the concept of the “global” through empirical case studies from the Americas, Oceania, and Europe. Drawing on diverse fields such as natural resources, migration, education, urban studies, welfare, and culture, leading scholars analyze how globalization is experienced and negotiated in specific local contexts. Rather than assuming a linear model of modernization, the book highlights the complexity of the contemporary world, where multiple temporalities and historical trajectories intersect and unfold simultaneously. By focusing on on-the-ground realities, it reveals how global processes are shaped by—and in turn reshape—local conditions. As the third volume in the Global Studies series, this work offers a nuanced and interdisciplinary perspective, portraying globalization as a dynamic and multilayered phenomenon that cannot be reduced to a single, uniform path of development.

Abstract
As the third volume in the Global Studies series, this work offers a nuanced and interdisciplinary perspective, portraying globalization as a dynamic and multilayered phenomenon that cannot be reduced to a single, uniform path of development.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
