Dionysius on Dionysius: Bar Ṣalībī's Commentary on Dionysius the Areopagite

The article offers a presentation and a preliminary investigation of Dionysius Bar Ṣalībī's hirtherto unedited and completely untranslated Commentary on Dionysius the Areopagite. This massive work is here introduced for the first time; among other things, it presents the discovery of a previously unknown manuscript of the 13th-14th. century. After a general introduction to the work, its structure and its aims, it goes on to explore how it is connected to the other works of Bar Ṣalībī, esecially his polemical works against the Arabs and the Armenians, and to other Greek and Syriac commentaries on the Areopagite, especially on the Mystical Theology.
