This volume brings together the papers presented at the Food and S.T.O.N.E.S. conference(Venice, 9-11 May 2024) and explores the economic and social structures of the EarlyMiddle Ages in the Adriatic region. It focuses on stone artefacts, metal objects, glass, andamphorae, re-examined through innovative analytical frameworks within an integratedmethodology that places written sources in critical dialogue with archaeologicalevidence. This approach has enabled the reconstruction of material provenance and theidentification of ancient riverine and maritime sites. The project’s findings are furtherenriched by the theoretical contributions of the conference discussants.
