This paper presents a systematic reassessment of the so-called “anforette adriatiche da pesce”, containers re- lated to the production and distribution of fish sauces in the northern and central Adriatic between the 1st and 4th centuries AD. Based on new and significant ceramic contexts from Aquileia, Altino, Grado, the Nor- thern Lagoon of Venice and Urbisaglia, the study adopts an integrated approach combining chrono-typological analyses and quantitative elaborations to update and refine the morphological evolution of the type, the role of this trade in northern Italian markets, and its distribution among the main northern Adriatic ports. The work forms part of a synergic project including two other contributions in this volume written by L. Marintan et alii and by P. Maggi, aimed at exploring aspects related to this production, from potential manufacturing areas, investigated through archaeometric analyses, to the study of the epigraphic corpus accompanying the examined amphorae.

Abstract
Maggi, aimed at exploring aspects related to this production, from potential manufacturing areas, investigated through archaeometric analyses, to the study of the epigraphic corpus accompanying the examined amphorae.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
