PORTI E TRASPORTI MARITTIMI: LE SFIDE DELLA TRANSIZIONE ENERGETICA E DIGITALE E LA RIORGANIZZAZIONE DELLE FILIERE LOGISTICHE

The reorganization of logistics chains in relation to the geopolitical crisis in the Southern Red Sea. This contribution analyses the implications that the ongoing geopolitical crisis in the Southern Red Sea, following the interception of the Suez Canal due to repeated attacks by Houthi militias, is having on global trade, with a focus on the impacts on maritime transport and the loss of strategic centrality of the Mediterranean Sea. The escalation of the conflict has disrupted most transport flows through the Suez Canal, forcing major shipping companies to reorganise routes circumnavigating the African continent. This contribution shows how this reorganisation led to a significant increase in transport costs, a lengthening of delivery times and a profound reorganisation of global logistics chains.
