This thesis presents an analysis of the miscellaneous codex Ms. II/462, housed in the Royal Library of Madrid, which contains late 16th-century dramatic manuscripts, including some unpublished works. Through a multidisciplinary study, the research aims to frame the history of the transmission of the codex and the dramatic works it contains within the cultural and theatrical context of its time. This dissertation is structured into three main sections. The first part is dedicated to the material description of the codex, with particular attention to the codicological, paleographic, and linguistic aspects of the theatrical manuscripts it preserves. The second section analyzes the dramatic structure of the works and their placement within the emerging theatrical genres, which, between the late 16th and early 17th centuries, would reach their peak with the birth of the “comedia nueva”. In this context, particular attention is also given to the metrics of the texts an their spectacular organization, in relation to the representational practices of the late 16th century. Finally, the third and final part of the thesis presents a critical edition of an untitled, unpublished comedy contained in folios 108-142 of the manuscript, accompanied by a critical apparatus aimed at clarifying its most significant textual and dramatic aspects.
