Scongiurare l'Apocalisse. La responsabilità degli scrittori e il romanzo nell’era del riscaldamento globale (2000-2024)

This work, divided into three sections, aims to investigate how the novel that represents or thematizes the problem of global warming and its consequences is constructed, in order to detect any patterns, trends or novelties in the narrative procedures used. The research focuses on the Italian novelistic production of the strict contemporaneity with the aim of giving an overall idea of ​​it. Priority is given to the analysis of mimetic narratives of climate change and the Anthropocene, on the one hand, in the idea that there are resistances of the field with respect to the development of the theme in the realistic novel and, on the other, in the desire to identify new techniques or narrative devices, adopted to represent the hyperobject global warming – that complex, multi-scalar phenomenon, which moves along space-time lines that are difficult to reconcile with the daily life of the human being and with the typical structure of the novel, which is centred on the particular and the individual.

Il presente lavoro, suddiviso in tre sezioni, intende indagare come si costruisca il romanzo che rappresenti o tematizzi il problema del riscaldamento globale e delle sue conseguenze, in modo da rilevare eventuali pattern, tendenze o novità nei procedimenti narrativi utilizzati. La ricerca si focalizza sulla produzione romanzesca italiana della stretta contemporaneità con lo scopo di restituirne un’idea complessiva. Si dà priorità all’analisi delle narrazioni mimetiche del cambiamento climatico e dell’Antropocene, nell’idea che, da un lato, sussistano delle resistenze di campo rispetto allo sviluppo del tema nel romanzo realistico e dall’altro, nella volontà di individuare nuove tecniche o dispositivi narrativi, adottati per rappresentare l’iperoggetto riscaldamento globale, ossia quel fenomeno complesso, multi-scalare, che si muove lungo direttrici spazio-temporali che mal si conciliano con la quotidianità dell’essere umano e in ultimo, con la struttura tipica del novel, che pone al centro il particolare e l’individuo.
