Speaking about the figure of the teacher and their relationship with students means addressing the subject of the intergenerational transmission of a community’s cultural and intellectual heritage. The volume is divided into three thematic sections. The first aims to illustrate the various conceptions of teaching and its implications as developed by Greek and Roman philosophers. The discussion ranges from Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, Seneca, and Porphyry to Meister Eckhart. The second section brings together two types of texts: those that explore various educational aspects of philosophers such as Schopenhauer, Heidegger, and Dewey, and others that engage with historical, pedagogical, or theatrical perspectives. The third section includes contributions and testimonies from those who have worked with Professor Stefano Maso, Full Professor of Ancient Philosophy at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

Parlare della figura del maestro e della relazione di questo con gli allievi e le allieve significa affrontare il tema della trasmissione intergenerazionale del patrimonio di conoscenze di una comunità. Il volume è suddiviso in tre sezioni tematiche. La prima mira a illustrare le diverse concezioni del magistero e delle implicazioni elaborate dai filosofi greci e romani. Il percorso si estende da Platone, Aristotele, Cicerone, Seneca e Porfirio fino a Meister Eckhart. La seconda sezione riunisce due tipologie di testi: quelli che affrontano vari aspetti educativi di filosofi come Schopenhauer, Heidegger e Dewey e altri che intercettano prospettive storiche, formative o teatrali. La terza sezione comprende i contribuiti e le testimonianze di coloro che hanno lavorato con il professor Stefano Maso, docente ordinario di Storia della Filosofia Antica all'Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia.
