ThERA (Theran Epigraphic Rubbings Archive) is an open-access digital archive collecting rubbings of Greek inscriptions carved on the rocks of the so-called area of the “Agora of the Gods,” on the island of Santorini (ancient Thera), dating to the Archaic and Classical periods (8th–5th century BCE) and now severely eroded. ThERA combines high-resolution gigapixel imaging of the rubbings with TEI-EpiDoc encoding of each inscription and geolocation on a dynamic map, enabling scholars and interested users to read, zoom, and contextualize texts and drawings in detail. By offering a sustainable and interoperable digital environment, ThERA safeguards a vulnerable heritage and enhances research and public understanding of early Greek literacy.

ThERA combines high-resolution gigapixel imaging of the rubbings with TEI-EpiDoc encoding of each inscription and geolocation on a dynamic map, enabling scholars and interested users to read, zoom, and contextualize texts and drawings in detail. By offering a sustainable and interoperable digital environment, ThERA safeguards a vulnerable heritage and enhances research and public understanding of early Greek literacy.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
