The paper explores the role of the VR360 technique in presenting and offering a new reading of historical documents, starting with an archival panoramic photograph of Venice from the XX century. The analysis offers a brief genealogy of ‘-oramas’, and in particular the special relationship between Venice and the theme of the city's image and its public use, from the Diorama, to the Periphoto, to VR360. This language rooted in the 19th century panorama, could be a valid narrative approach for both digital art history and digital public history research methodologies.

Abstract
The paper explores the role of the VR360 technique in presenting and offering a new reading of historical documents, starting with an archival panoramic photograph of Venice from the XX century. The analysis offers a brief genealogy of ‘-oramas’, and in particular the special relationship between Venice and the theme of the city's image and its public use, from the Diorama, to the Periphoto, to VR360. This language rooted in the 19th century panorama, could be a valid narrative approach for both digital art history and digital public history research methodologies.File in questo prodotto:
