Povertà e disuguaglianze in Italia

This contribution offers an in-depth analysis of poverty and social inequalities in Italy, with a particular focus on the worsening economic and social conditions affecting the most vulnerable segments of the population. Drawing on key national statistical sources, it highlights how absolute poverty affects millions of individuals—especially large families, minors, foreign nationals, and those with low educational attainment. The paper also underscores the vital role played by the Caritas support network, which, through its Listening Centers, provides both material and relational assistance to those in need. Special attention is given to the Tuscan context, where housing and employment insecurity are increasingly evident. The text presents a complex picture of multidimensional poverty, which is becoming ever more chronic and intergenerational.
