Our paper aims to figure out some time effects in the acquisition of a group of Korean learners of Vietnamese. Initial research findings suggest that in addition to the typological differences between the two languages, those time-related factors such as (i) time of immersing in an environment in which Vietnamese is a native language, (ii) duration of learning Vietnamese on a daily basis (iii) total length of studying Vietnamese, (iv) age of learners when first studied Vietnamese can also have certain influences in the acquisition process. It is our hope that such findings can be profitable to the popular practice of learning and teaching Vietnamese as a second language.
