This study aims to propose effective pedagogical strategies for teaching the Korean temporal expression ‘-(으)ㄹ 때’ to Italian learners of Korean. The Korean language includes a wide range of temporal expressions, among which ‘-(으)ㄹ 때’ is one of the most commonly used in daily communication. Due to its relatively simple form and limited morpho-syntactic restrictions, it has often been overlooked in Korean language education and has not received significant scholarly attention. However, based on the author's teaching experience at Ca' Foscari University of Venice since 2016, a considerable number of students have repeatedly shown difficulties in the proper use of ‘-(으)ㄹ 때’. This study, therefore, assumes that Italian-speaking learners encounter particular challenges with this expression and seeks to identify the causes of these difficulties. Ultimately, it proposes targeted and effective instructional methods to support more accurate and confident use of ‘-(으)ㄹ 때’ in Korean by Italian learners.

Abstract
