Marginalia all’Elettra di Euripide dalla biblioteca di Marc Antoine Muret

The chapter presents numerous, hitherto unpublished, text-critical annotations to Euripides’ ‘Electra’. Written in the margins of two postillati now held at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Rome – a copy of the editio princeps of ‘Electra’ (1545) and a copy of the 1546 edition of the same play –, these annotations attest to the philological interest elicited in sixteenth-century classical scholarship by ‘Electra’, the last of the fully extant Euripidean plays to be printed.
