The aim of this paper is to discuss the animal bone artefacts coming from the Abbey of San Silvestro located at Nonantola (Mo). These findings were recovered in the archaeological excavations of the monastic courtyard, where a complete stratigraphic sequence has been analysed. A great variety of features have been investigated, from residential rooms to productive structures, highlighting changes in the life of religious community from the 8th century to the Modern Age. This study is part of one of the most significant project carried out by the University Ca' Foscari of Venice, involving the study of landscape, the analysis of standing buildings and archaeological excavations.
