Ethical Sexual Services: Sexual Assistance for People with Disabilities

Sexual assistance is a term increasingly used in Europe to indicate specialised sexual services for people with disabilities that providers can be trained for. Though these ser-vices are still limited in number, they have gathered public attention across countries, in-terestingly controversial even among activists for sex workers and disability rights, as some see them potentially reproducing the stigmas attached to sex workers and disabled people. Why would people with disabilities need special sexual services? These critics say. Why would their sex providers need special training? Why is sexual assistance often framed as opposed to sex work and sexual assistants as different from sex workers?
