Many questions still remain about the mechanisms that regulated the maritime distribution of ceramic roofing materials during the Roman Period even though they represented one of the most significant market segments. Here is an analysis of the shipwrecks which includes an outlining of the stowage techniques and an hypothetical reconstruction of the hull characteristics suitable for this transport, along with their tonnage. The study of the cargoes so far attested led to the hypothesis that the diffusion of ceramic roofing materials took place on various scales and through different sailing modes.

Abstract
Many questions still remain about the mechanisms that regulated the maritime distribution of ceramic roofing materials during the Roman Period even though they represented one of the most significant market segments. Here is an analysis of the shipwrecks which includes an outlining of the stowage techniques and an hypothetical reconstruction of the hull characteristics suitable for this transport, along with their tonnage. The study of the cargoes so far attested led to the hypothesis that the diffusion of ceramic roofing materials took place on various scales and through different sailing modes.File in questo prodotto:
