A key finding of the RWR (Responsible Welfare Network) is that any reform of the NHS and the health system as a whole must be grounded in the concept of territorial services. This approach aims to address the prevailing 'hospital-centrism' by fostering closer ties between the health system and citizens. The notion that the hospital should be the centre of the system is, in the opinion of the authors, a fundamental cause of many current problems. The experience outlined here is of particular significance for several reasons. Firstly, it occurs in a context (private healthcare) that would not appear to be predisposed to such change, yet it demonstrates the possibility of overturning the model and constructing effective care-giving pathways. Secondly, it demonstrates that human and professional resources of operators are the most critical issue. The capacity of these operators to engage and transform the prevailing paradigm, as evidenced by the case study, serves as the fundamental catalyst for change.

Abstract
The capacity of these operators to engage and transform the prevailing paradigm, as evidenced by the case study, serves as the fundamental catalyst for change.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
