Artistic and traditional craftsmanship contributes significantly to shaping many of the central, unique, and distinctive traits that have long defined Venice’s identity around the world. The recent economic and health crises linked to globalization have severely tested the resilience of artisanal workshops—custodians of Venice’s historical memory and intangible cultural heritage—which were first hard hit by the high water emergency of November 2019 and then by the advent of the pandemic. The Venice Original E-Commerce project was created to support Venetian craftsmanship in overcoming this crisis and discovering new development opportunities.
