The article analyzes the challenges associated with the transition of young people from school to work, with a particular focus on artistic and traditional craftsmanship in the historic city of Venice. Key obstacles include the mismatch between labor supply and demand, institutional rigidity, and limited communication between schools and businesses. Venice, with its high density of artisan enterprises, serves as a paradigmatic case for understanding employment dynamics in this sector. The research, conducted between January and June 2024, proposes strategies to enhance craftsmanship through innovative storytelling, strengthened practical training, the enhancement of PCTO (Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation), and new approaches to generational transition. The conclusions highlight the need for public policies and incentives to support the sector, regarded as a cultural and symbolic asset crucial to the local economy and society.
