In this paper, I investigate Leibniz's acquaintance with Valerianus Magni's philosophical and theological works. I address the issue of Valerianus's possible influence on Leibniz both on the basis of the latter's explicit mentions of the former and on the basis of external evidence. In particular, I consider Christian Wolff's claim that Leibniz's "Meditationes de cognitione, veritate et ideis" borrows some ideas from Valerianus's theory of cognition.

Abstract
In this paper, I investigate Leibniz's acquaintance with Valerianus Magni's philosophical and theological works. I address the issue of Valerianus's possible influence on Leibniz both on the basis of the latter's explicit mentions of the former and on the basis of external evidence. In particular, I consider Christian Wolff's claim that Leibniz's "Meditationes de cognitione, veritate et ideis" borrows some ideas from Valerianus's theory of cognition.File in questo prodotto:
