The disciplines and techniques on which the governance of nature, the environment and the landscape is based rarely access anthropological knowledge in the understanding and management of socio-environmental balances. Yet anthropology, through ethnographic practice, contributes widely to the interdisciplinary reflection on the prevention and management of environmental conflicts caused by global competition for the planet's natural resources. This volume presents a collection of unpublished articles based on the detailed analysis of socio-environmental conflicts linked to specific natural resources (e.g. forests, water, oil, landscapes) present in different geographical-cultural contexts (Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa). Designed and intended for a heterogeneous audience (students, researchers, teachers, aid workers, administrators, activists, etc.), this volume aims to be an effective introduction to the most urgent issues of environmental anthropology, development anthropology and political ecology.
