Dialettica e positivismo nel marxismo italiano post-bellico: la polemica di Luporini con la scuola dellavolpiana

This essay addresses the intellectual resources mobilised by Cesare Luporini against Galvano Della Volpe’s school, in order to expose the broader cultural relevance of this debate for the history of Italian Marxism. As a matter of fact, this polemics is rich in philosophical implications: from the reading of Hegel to that of Marx’s method, through the problem of the relationship between the abstract and the concrete. To reconstruct its theoretical texture, Luporini’s polemic against Della Volpe and his school is framed as a philosophical crossroads between dialectics and positivism. The unfolding of this operation is investigated in its historical dimension, i.e., its projection in various journals of that time, such as “Rinascita”, or “Critica Marxista”, as well as a prism to grasp this two very distinct variations on Italian Marxism and their interplay.
