The article, written in Swedish, is included in a volume dealing with August Strindberg and Memory. The article examines the ways in which the past is recollected and represented on stage in Strindberg's naturalistic play "The Father", considering the author's need to find an original dramatic structure and style, different from the ones employed by the older, and already established Nordic playwright Henrik Ibsen, with his well-constructed retrospective technique. Strindberg's solution proves to be an adaptation with modifications of the Ibsenian naturalistic model. The discussion is supported by references to Peter Szondi's theory of modern drama, and to Harold Bloom's notion of "anxiety of influence".
