This book is the fourth volume in the Global Studies series edited by Hirofumi UTSUMI. As the title ‘Globalisation and Japan’ suggests, the forth volume focuses on the relationship between the areas of ‘globalisation’ and ‘Japan’. The aim is to clarify how the economy, politics, immigration, cities, welfare, culture, etc. in Japan have changed in line with the popularity of terms such as ‘globalisation’ and ‘global’. The 16 authors come from a wide range of fields, including economics, sociology, political science, anthropology, urban studies and Japanese language education.
